Recently many of my blog posts have been on important topics that are dear to my heart however sometimes its nice to write a lighter post focusing on just sharing a bit about how I like to work. Today I thought I would share what accessories I use with my Mac in the hope that it might be helpful to someone else to.

As a fully remote software engineer its important to me that I have a setup that enables me to be my most effective. Therefore everything from my mouse to my laptop stand needs to be right for how I like to work.

As a software engineer I spend much of my time writing code or in a Terminal so a good keyboard is incredibly important. For about 10 years I swore by my Apple full size keyboard but as it was starting to get quite old I decided to buy something new. In parallel with this I had work colleagues raving about using a mechanical keyboards so I decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about.

When looking at mechanical keyboards though I was overwhelmed by so much choice, and the size of the community arround them. For me I wanted something I could trust to just work and that was designed to work with the Mac out of the box. This lead me to looking into the Logitech MX Mechanical which after obsessively reading reviews I decided to give it a try.

Turns out I have loved this keyboard and I continue to use it as my daily driver. It has the right level of tactile feedback when typing and is an ideal daily driver for writing code and documentation.

I currently have the original Logitech MX Master (actualy I have 2) which I picked up during a black friday sale about 5 years ago and its been a strong companion since. It is realy ergonomic and works quite well for both my larger and my wifes smaller hands.
